Quarry Bay Quarryside| ◖ Listening to the Later Sea ◗ Drifting Sea Sound · Small Zine Reading Group
Description
In the first half of the year, a group of community creators swam into the Eastern District in various styles — someone got 'lost in this *place — × ° Tai Koo Shing ° °' while looking for community benches; someone determined to climb Mount Parker all the way from the seaside to find the source of the water when they saw the sewer outlet on the East Coast boardwalk; someone listened to the story of the 'Flower King', who has more than 20 years of experience, while touching the flowers and plants in Taikoo Place ⋯⋯
These community stories are collected in 11 small zines, and we also hope to bring you a first-hand experience! There will be 3 reading groups during the 'Drifting Sea Sound' exhibition, where creators will take you to experience the community through small activities. Whether it's confusion or surprise, it's a unique experience that this place has given us. Join us in jumping into the 'Later Sea' and swimming in the community!
Living Zine Vol.1 and Vol.3 Taikoo Playground: Community Bench Card Battle ✕ Finding a Secret Garden
12 July (Sun) 2:30 - 4:30 PM
19 July (Sun) 2:30 - 4:30 PM
Have you ever noticed the uniquely designed community benches scattered around Tai Koo Shing? Creator Vanessa has turned these benches into a small zine catalogue, and for this event, she will transform 10 different bench styles into game cards, listing four major values: comfort, defensibility, etc. Participants will be divided into two teams and engage in a card battle on a designated long bench!
Creator Jamie will also take you into this forest hidden in the concrete, to observe the interactions between people, plants, and spaces in Taikoo Place, and to listen to the story of a laborer who has been quietly taking care of the greenery here for over two decades.
Living Zine Vol.2 In Search of the Daily Life of a Giant Beast
18 July (Sat) 2:30 - 4:00 PM
'Monster Building' has become a popular photo-taking spot due to its appearance in movies, but have you ever noticed the daily lives of the residents? The creative team members Crystal, Sherry, Cecilia, and Chloe entered the building and had the fortune of getting to know a local little girl, who took them into every small shop to chat with the owners. They want to introduce you to the community scenery beyond the 'photo-taking spots'.
